Môn-Heli
Y Llythyr

Y LLYTHYR
(THE LETTER)

The pencil is idle, the paper is blank,
And many a page is burning on the fire.
For a long time I have wanted to send you a letter,
But choosing the words is hard for me.

I know exactly what I have to say,
But putting it on paper is hard to do.
Like "I love you, do you love me?"
My heart belongs only to you.

Chorus
Oh silly little pencil,
Give assistance to me,
To send my heart
In a letter to him.

You are my hero and you are my world.
Every dream I dream you are in them all.
From a distance I love you but am too shy to say.
I'm writing a letter, what else can I do?

A knock on the door, a letter for me.
I know from the writing, it comes from you.
I open it quickly, that is for the best,
And I read from a distance that you love me too!

Chorus
Oh silly little pencil,
Give assistance to me,
To send my heart
In a letter to him.

MADDEUWN Y CYFAN I TI
(I FORGIVE YOU EVERYTHING)

You think I haven't seen the brightness in your eyes.
You refuse to talk about what is distracting you.
You ignore me as though I don't exist.
You're hurting me, but I forgive you everything.

What happened to us,
You treat me like dirt.
If only you would talk,
And reach out your hand.
I'll listen to your troubles.
I gave everything to you.
Your're hurting me to the core,
But I forgive you everything.

You think I haven't seen you staring.
Who is taking your attention these days?
I wait for you in the dead of night.
You're hurting me, but I forgive you everything.

I must face the truth and stop self-deceiving.
There is no future for me here.
You're destroying my world and my dreams.
You're hurting me, but I forgive you everything.

I'd give my all if only you would understand.
Go to your paradise in the far ends of the world,
But clouds will eclipse the brightness of the sun.
You're hurting me, but I forgive you everything.

MOEL TRYFAN
(TRYFAN HILL)

On the top of Moel Tryfan on a clear day,
I can see Ireland and lots of land.
There for centuries, looking down,
The bare rocks of The Giant's Apron*

At Moel Tryfan there's a slate heap,
Today it is nothing but old rubble.
Scars of pick and hammer of the workers,
Today the only memories of the quarrymen.

Chorus
We could wander where we wanted,
I fetched water from the well.
How lovely it was to walk the hill,
Today there's no path and no reminders.

I went back to wander the hill,
To look for the well and for my memories.
It was a dream that needed fulfilling,
To fetch water once more from the well.

I remember the hill like fresh air,
Where I wandered as a girl.
I walked the path to the crystal well,
But today it's over grown with reeds.

Chorus

*Barclod Y Cawr (Giant's Apron) is the name of a cliff.

CARU DY GARU DI
(I LOVE  LOVING YOU)

I love seeing the sun set over a hill.
And I love seeing a seagull on the waves.
I love hearing the happy laughter of children.
But more than all of these,
I love loving you.

I love hearing merry voices sing,
And I love walking with my dog,
I love the company of friends,
But more than all these,
I love loving you.

I love walking through thick snow,
I love going on holiday and having fun.
I love also the sweet fragrance of a rose.
But more than all these,
I love loving you.

I love remembering my parents love,
And I love the memories that come back to me.
I love sometimes returning to the past,
But more than all these,
I love loving you.

TYBED
(I WONDER)

Looking into your eyes,
And seeing all there was between us,
Is there still hope for us?
I wonder.

Chorus One
You are the one I love,
You are the one I desire.
You are the one I see,
In my dreams.

Life passed by, but
despite the often complicated emotions,
we carried on,
even though the journey was hard.

Chorus Two
If there are means to redirect,
Your feelings tonight,
Know that I'll be there,
To love you.

Can we return,
return to how we were at first?
Or have we gone too far?
On the journey of our lives?

You are the one I love,
You are the one I desire.
You are the one I see,
In my dreams.

PARTI PENBLWYDD IESU
(JESUS'S BIRTHDAY PARTY)

The Christmas star
Is so bright in the heavens.
We had better start celebrating,
an amazing party.

We'll put tinsel on the tree,
And bells everywhere.
It's something grand to remember,
The Prince of heaven's birthday.

Chorus
And we'll sing our song now,
Jesus came to the world.
He was born in Bethlehem town,
King of the world.

The stockings are by the bed.
And all the expensive presents,
Say that Jesus Christ,
Is a friend to all children.

Presents we'll have from Santa Clauses's sack,
And the family all agree that
We'll make a birthday party for Jesus,
The best party of all.

Chorus
And we'll sing our song now,
Jesus came to the world.
He was born in Bethlehem town,
King of the world.

BLE 'R WYT  TI ?
(WHERE ARE YOU?)

Mid-day,
I feel the heat of the sun above my head.
But tonight in the darkness of midnight,
I will feel the world is at an end.

On my own.
And you are far away from my arms.
And I fear that tomorrow will oppress my sad heart.
If only I knew where you are.

Chorus.
No, I don't want anything more,
but to hear your voice and to know where
you are,  and to know  if you want to
return to my arms or not?

Are you afraid.
Of the fire that once warmed our heart?
What is causing you to stay away,
But keeps my heart with you?

What is wrong,
Are you unable to come home to me?
Or to say clearly where you have gone?
I don't know where to look or where you are.

Chorus.

DIM MYMRYN YN FWY
(NOT ONE LITTLE BIT MORE)

I've suspected for a while, but I'm not certain,
if your love for me is really deep.
Something is wrong, but I don't know what.
But something isn't right with you.

Why are you not as cheerful as you used to be?
Do you have a new love?
Your temper is uneven, don't tell clever lies.
I'm too sharp, I can see through you.

Chorus
You're caught in perplexity,
You must choose between two.
No one else can love you
One little bit more.

It's not easy to reason when things are like this,
when there's almost no word between us.
A life that was perfect is now without hope.
I tried my best, now it's up to you.

If you need to say goodbye, then say it now.
The pain will be less for you.
Tell me the truth with a clear conscience.
Before long all will be visible to me.

Chorus.

 CANRIF
(CENTURY)

Memories of a century come to mind today,
Hundreds of varied memories of life,
Bring a smile and sometimes a tear,
Remembering the children who are now in God's arms.

A long and hard century went by quickly,
But inspite of everything, I kept my faith.
Grandsons and granddaughters are a comfort to me,
And it's for them I live from day to day.

Chorus
Greetings from the Queen,
Came with cards through the door,
And the room is drowned
In bouquetsof pretty flowers.
And my family and friends
Celebrating with me,
My birthday today, a century old.
So lucky am I.

Life can be cruel at times,
And fortune's weight crushes us.
But no matter how steeps are the hills,
Everyone must climb them like I did.

 Y LLYGAID DUON DUON
(THOSE BLACK, BLACK, EYES)

The lights are low,
And you are looking at me now,
With bright black eyes
That are so beautiful.
I'm afraid to look at you,
Afraid that you will steal my heart.
I know that I could never refuse,
Could never refuse you.

Chorus
Those black, black eyes,
those that can break a heart.
Are gazing at me all the time.
Those black, black, eyes,
That are trying to steal my heart,
The most beatiful eyes in the world.
The most beatiful eyes in the world.

I want to be near you,
And know more about you.
And want know what story lies
In your black eyes.
And I dreamed that you
Would one day steal my heart.
And tonight that dream
Is a dream come true

Chorus.

DYFFRYN DYCHYMYG
( VALLEY OF IMAGINATION)

Shadow of a cloud on the mountain,
Silver lakes silent and still.
Flowers of heather are in their splendour,
In the valley of my imagination.

Golden gorse on the bushes,
The song of a bird is company
And a small bridge that must be crossed,
In the valley of my imagination.

Chorus
Here there is beauty,
Perfect peace in the silence.
A paradise of serenity
Is the valley of my imagination.
It's a very special place,
It offers a taste of heaven.
And I'll never be lonely,
In the valley of my imagination.

When the roads of the world are rough,
Steep hills without descent,
You too can take a walk,
In the valley of your imagination.

Chorus.

ENGLISH VERSION
By Dafydd Thomas

Clouds cast shadows on the mountains
Silver Streams cascade like fountains
Stars peep through the night's dark curtains
In the valley of my memory.

Golden gorse and purple heather
Sweet Songs of birds and sunny weather
The little stone bridge I must cross over
In the valley of my memory

Chorus
I feel the place inside me growing
In the stillness of the evening.
I've found the paradise I'm seeking
In the valley of my memory.
It's a special place of beauty
A taste of heaven all around me
And I'm never ever lonely
In the valley of my memory

When the paths of life grows steeper
And weighs heavy on your shoulder
It's so easy to go and wander
Through the valley of your memory.

Chorus

CANEUON CANU GWLAD
(COUNTRY MUSIC SONGS)

My Grandpa was hung for strangling Grandma,
Many years ago.
My mother hit the bottle,
And my father went on the dole.
My sister's pregnant yet again,
No clue who the daddy is.
But these kind of things happen
In country music songs.

The dog is sick and the cat is lost,
And the budgie's losing his feathers.
The well has dried up,
And there's a hole in the roof of my house,
And this morning I got the sack,
And that without explanation.
But these kind of things happen
In country music songs.

Chorus
Songs to give joy,
Are country music songs.
Even though sometimes the songs are sad,
they somehow give us pleasure.
They are all simple stories,
They don't need an explanation.
Stories about ordinary people
are country music songs.

Losing a lover, losing a love.
We have this in every song.
A heart completely broken,
In many pieces on the floor.
And how many times did you hear a story
About cheap whisky and the bottle?
But these kind of things are the heart,
Of country music songs.

Chorus
Songs to give joy,
Are country music songs.
Even though sometimes the songs are sad,
they somehow give us pleasure.
They are all simple stories,
They don't need an explanation.
Stories about ordinary people
are country music songs.
